MinLOS / MaxLOS (Length-of-Stay Restrictions)
MinLOS (Minimum Length of Stay) and MaxLOS (Maximum Length of Stay) are revenue management restrictions that control how many nights a guest must (or can) book in order to be eligible for a given rate or arrival date.
MinLOS
A MinLOS rule blocks bookings shorter than a specified number of nights. Used to:
- Protect high-demand dates from being filled with single-night bookings that would block profitable longer stays
- Increase ALOS during peak periods like New Year's Eve, Saturday nights, or major events
- Improve operational efficiency by reducing turnover
Example: "MinLOS 3 on New Year's Eve" means a guest arriving on Dec 31 must book at least 3 nights.
MaxLOS
A MaxLOS rule blocks bookings longer than a specified number of nights. Less common than MinLOS, used to:
- Prevent long stays from blocking inventory during anticipated demand spikes later in the booking window
- Manage pricing when rates for future dates are higher
