Expedia TAAP (Travel Agent Affiliate Program)

Expedia TAAP (Travel Agent Affiliate Program) is Expedia Group's B2B booking platform for retail travel agents. Instead of booking directly with hotels or through a GDS, agents log into a dedicated TAAP portal, book Expedia's hotel, package, car, and activity inventory on behalf of their clients, and earn a commission from Expedia on each completed stay.

How it works

Agents register for a free TAAP account, book at the same rates and availability distributed to Expedia's consumer sites, and are paid a commission (tiered by booking volume) after the guest checks out. The hotel receives the reservation as a standard Expedia booking — the agent sits between Expedia and the traveler, not between Expedia and the hotel.

Example

A travel agent books a 4-night stay at €150 per night (€600 total) for a client via TAAP. The hotel pays its contracted Expedia commission on the booking as usual. Expedia then shares part of that margin with the agent — typically a high single-digit percentage of the booking value, rising with the agency's annual volume tier.

Why it matters

For hotels, TAAP is an often-invisible demand channel: bookings arrive coded as Expedia reservations, but the true source is a traditional travel agency. This matters for channel-mix analysis, because TAAP demand behaves differently from consumer OTA demand — it skews toward complex trips, longer stays, and travelers who value human service, and it tends to have lower cancellation rates. Hotels that participate in Expedia's packages and B2B rate programs gain additional exposure through TAAP without separate contracting.

For OTAs, TAAP is a way to capture the offline agency segment that never books on consumer websites — a meaningful share of demand in markets like Latin America, the Middle East, and parts of Asia.
