Properties listed on Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo will increasingly be discovered, compared and questioned through AI tools, and Expedia Group's Fall 2026 release shows how far that shift now reaches.

Expedia Group announced more than 30 new or enhanced AI-powered features across its three consumer brands. Shilpa Ranganathan, Chief Product Officer at Expedia Group, framed the goal as helping travelers "make informed decisions" and "personalize every step of their trip."

Expedia

  • Homepage: a more visual, personalized homepage with recommendations, deals and next steps.
  • Packages: travelers can fly into one city, stay in another, and add a hotel or rental car only for the days they need.
  • Activity Planner: a conversational tool for activities, restaurants and events after booking.
  • Property Expert: AI answers to property questions, grounded in property details, guest reviews and the traveler's reservation.
  • Multi-room booking: several room types at one hotel, paid together and managed in one itinerary.
  • Family-friendly maps: interactive maps showing beaches, playgrounds and restaurants.
  • One Key perks: a CLEAR+ discount for all members, and free lounge access or OneKeyCash for Gold and Platinum members (plus up to nine travelers in their party) on flights delayed 90 minutes or more. Free One Key Price Drop Protection is available to Gold and Platinum members on eligible flights booked in the Expedia app. Qualifying flights must be booked through Expedia by 12/31/27; terms apply.

Hotels.com

  • AI Compare: side-by-side, plain-language comparisons of shortlisted properties, with follow-up questions.
  • Work/leisure homepage: surfaces next steps such as extending a stay or retrieving receipts for expensing.
  • Natural Language Search, Loved by Guests, a Business Shopping Experience and Property Expert enhancements are also included.

Vrbo

  • Natural Language Search: guests describe what they want, such as a beachfront home in Hawaii with a well-stocked kitchen.
  • Reserve Now, Pay Later (coming soon): eligible homes can be reserved with $0 due at booking.
  • Arrival Experience: check-in and checkout times, door codes, directions and house rules in one place.
  • Voice support: a conversational voice agent that can hand off to a human agent with call context.
  • Discounts: Monthly, Weekly, Early Booking and Last-Minute deals, plus Stacked Savings on select stays and Member Prices for signed-in users.

Expedia cites Family Travel Association data (US Family Travel Survey 2025): over a third of parents say finding fun, unique family activities is among the most stressful parts of vacation planning, and more than half of family travelers place high value on room configuration.

What it means for operators

Property Expert and AI Compare both draw on property details and guest reviews, so the completeness of a listing's content and the quality of its reviews now feed directly into AI-generated answers and comparisons. Vrbo's pay-later option and arrival-information features also touch payment timing and guest communication for vacation rental hosts.
