Visibility Booster

Visibility Booster is a Booking.com tool that lets hotels temporarily increase their commission percentage on a per-date basis in exchange for higher search ranking on those specific dates.

How it works

Unlike the Preferred Partner Program, which is an always-on commission uplift, Visibility Booster is tactical and date-specific. A hotel might activate it only for:

  • Soft demand dates (need-pickup periods that need a boost)
  • Mid-week shoulder nights that are pacing behind
  • Unsold inventory in the final booking window
  • Days following a cancellation surge

The hotel chooses the dates, picks an additional commission percentage (often 5–15% above the base), and Booking.com lifts the listing's search position for guests browsing those dates.

Why it matters

Visibility Booster gives hotels a demand-driven lever: instead of locking in higher commission for every booking, they pay only when they actually need volume. It's commonly used by revenue managers as a tactical complement to BAR adjustments.

Trade-offs

  • Pros — surgical control, only pay extra commission when needed, easy to switch on and off
  • Cons — adds another margin layer to manage, and over-reliance can train the property to "buy" demand rather than fix underlying pricing or content issues
