CTD (Closed to Departure)
CTD (Closed to Departure) is a revenue management restriction that prevents reservations from ending on a specific date. Guests can still arrive and stay through the date, but they cannot check out on it.
When CTD is used
- The night before a high-demand date — to keep rooms occupied through the peak rather than letting guests vacate just before
- Sunday nights leading into a Monday convention — to retain inventory for the lucrative Monday arrival
- Bridge nights — to enforce stays that span a quiet day plus a busy one
Example
A resort expects strong demand starting Friday night. Setting CTD on Friday means a guest who arrived Wednesday cannot check out Friday — they have to stay at least through Saturday, capturing the Friday peak.
Related restrictions
- CTA (Closed to Arrival) — no new arrivals on the date
- MinLOS / MaxLOS — minimum or maximum length of stay
- Stop-sell — completely closed for sale
