Channel Manager

Channel Manager is the software layer that synchronizes a hotel's rates, availability, and restrictions across every connected sales channel in real time. When a booking comes in on one channel, the channel manager updates inventory across all the others to prevent overbookings.

What it connects

A typical channel manager sits between the hotel's PMS or CRS and:

  • OTAs (Booking.com, Expedia, Agoda, Hotelbeds, etc.)
  • The GDS
  • Metasearch engines (Google Hotel Ads, trivago, Kayak)
  • The hotel's own booking engine
  • Wholesalers and bed banks

Why it's essential

Without a channel manager, a property would have to manually update rates and inventory on every OTA extranet — impossible at scale. The channel manager enables:

  • Real-time sync — a booking on one channel immediately decrements inventory everywhere
  • Rate parity enforcement — consistent pricing across channels
  • Restriction management — MinLOS, CTA, CTD, stop-sells pushed uniformly
  • Bulk updates — change rates across all channels in one action
