Airbnb Q1 2026: Revenue Up 18% to $2.7 Billion as App Bookings Surge

Airbnb's first quarter of 2026 delivered results ahead of guidance, with strong demand across key markets and accelerating app adoption pointing to continued momentum heading into a busy summer season.

Key Financials

Revenue reached $2.7 billion in Q1 2026, up 18% year-over-year and above the top end of Airbnb's own guidance range. Gross Booking Value grew 19% to just under $30 billion, supported by solid demand, continued pricing strength, and a favourable foreign exchange tailwind.

Nights and Experiences Booked grew 9% year-over-year. Net income came in at $160 million, while Adjusted EBITDA rose 24% to $519 million.

App and New Booker Growth

Nights booked via Airbnb's mobile app accelerated during the quarter, growing 22% year-over-year. App-sourced bookings now account for 63% of total nights, up from 58% a year ago.

First-time booker growth reached 10% — the highest rate since early 2022 — with particularly strong acceleration in Brazil, Japan, and India. Origin nights booked in India grew approximately 50% year-over-year, while Brazil posted more than 20% origin night growth for the third consecutive quarter.

Product and Partnership Highlights

Roughly 20% of global GBV in Q1 came from Reserve Now, Pay Later bookings. On the supply side, Airbnb redesigned its host sign-up flow and updated pricing tools to help hosts set rates based on demand and seasonality.

The company also expanded its partnership with Delta Air Lines to allow travelers to earn Delta miles on qualifying Airbnb Experiences and Services, in addition to homes.

Airbnb is scaling its boutique and independent hotel pilot to more markets worldwide, noting that approximately 55% of guests who book a hotel on Airbnb go on to book a home stay.

Events as a Growth Driver

The Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 illustrated the company's events strategy: nearly 200,000 guests stayed on Airbnb, supply in host markets grew approximately 30%, and over 40 engagements with government and community leaders were secured. The company said its upcoming May 20 Summer Release will detail further expansion of services, experiences, and hotels on the platform.

Macro Conditions

Management acknowledged slightly elevated cancellations in EMEA and Asia Pacific, primarily attributed to ongoing Middle East conflict. The company described its distributed supply base across millions of homes at every price point as a structural buffer when travel patterns shift.
