Trip.com Launches My Travel Impact and Releases Sustainability Survey

Trip.com Group has added a feature called My Travel Impact to the Trip.com app, and published survey data suggesting that clear sustainability labels matter to its users. For hotels, the label that counts is Trip.com's Certified Sustainable badge.
My Travel Impact pulls a traveller's choices into one view. For hotels, it counts nights stayed at properties with the Certified Sustainable label, which Trip.com says is based on recognised third-party certification. For flights, it estimates emissions avoided using the Travel Impact Model recommended by Travalyst. For rail, it estimates savings compared with travelling by petrol car. Estimates appear where comparable data exists.
The company's 2026 Sustainable Travel Consumer Report surveyed 8,777 people in 29 markets. Of those, 75.4% said sustainability matters when they make travel decisions, and 56.8% said they intentionally choose more sustainable options. Price (64.1%) and quality and comfort (61.8%) still come first. Higher prices (37.1%) and difficulty spotting sustainable options (27.1%) were the main barriers.
On what travellers want from online agencies, 41.6% asked for clear sustainable labels, and 32.7% wanted a dashboard showing the carbon impact of their bookings. 64.2% said sustainable offerings would affect which platform they choose. Younger travellers lean further this way: 69.5% of Gen Z say they choose sustainable options on purpose, against 40.6% of Boomers.
This is a survey run by the platform that sells the product, so treat the headline numbers with care. Stated intent and actual booking behaviour often differ, and price still leads.
For hotel operators who sell on Trip.com, the useful point is the label. Third-party certification is what feeds the Certified Sustainable badge, so properties with a recognised certificate may get more visibility in this new view. Trip.com Group says it works with GSTC and Travalyst on certification and emissions data.
