HBX Group Partners With Bioscore to Help Hotels Earn Sustainability Certification
Sarah
With new EU rules on environmental claims now in force, HBX Group is helping its hotel partners get certified rather than just labelled.
On 6 October 2026, HBX Group (HBX.SM), a B2B travel technology marketplace, announced a partnership with Bioscore, a sustainability certification scheme owner and ESG management specialist for tourism. The collaboration is part of HBX Group's Sustainable Certified Hotels Programme, which already promotes hotels holding recognised certifications.
What the partnership does
The new partnership targets hotels that are not yet certified. It helps them check whether they have incorporated ESG criteria into their management practices. Bioscore will help hotel partners understand the BIOSCORE scheme requirements and organise the data and evidence needed for independent evaluation.
- Audience: small and medium-sized hotels that may lack the internal resources or ESG expertise to manage certification alone.
- Participation: voluntary. HBX Group will continue to recognise certifications aligned with standards such as GSTC and Travalyst.
- Milestone: HBX Group describes it as its first collaboration of this kind with a sustainability certification scheme owner.
Regulatory context
New EU consumer protection rules, applicable from 27 September 2026, tighten requirements on environmental claims and sustainability labels.
