Rate Shopper (also called a rate intelligence tool or competitive pricing tool) is software that automatically scrapes hotel rates across OTAs, brand websites, and metasearch engines to show how a property's pricing compares to its competitive set in real time.
What it tracks
- Competitor rates by date, room type, and length of stay
- Channel parity — whether the same room is priced differently on different channels
- Promotions — discounted rate plans, member rates, package deals
- Availability — sold-out dates across the comp set, signaling demand spikes
Why it matters
Rate shoppers are the eyes and ears of the revenue management team.
