Bedsonline (Hotelbeds)
Bedsonline is the retail travel agent booking platform of Hotelbeds (part of HBX Group), one of the world's largest accommodation wholesalers, or "bedbanks." While Hotelbeds' core business distributes hotel inventory B2B to tour operators, OTAs, and airlines, Bedsonline packages that same contracted inventory into a closed booking portal for traditional and home-based retail travel agents. Agents log in, search hotels, transfers, and activities at net or commissionable rates, and book on behalf of their end customers.
For a hotel, appearing on Bedsonline usually does not require a separate contract: a wholesale agreement with Hotelbeds typically flows through to Bedsonline and the rest of the group's distribution network. That reach is the appeal — one static or dynamic net-rate contract can surface the property in tens of thousands of agency storefronts worldwide.
Why it matters
Bedsonline illustrates how wholesale inventory travels. A net rate given to a bedbank can end up in front of a retail agent in another market, marked up within the agreed band — or, when the chain of resale is not controlled, leak onto B2C sites below the hotel's public price and create rate parity problems. Hotels working with Hotelbeds should understand which downstream channels (including Bedsonline) their rates reach, and monitor with a rate shopper for undercutting. For properties targeting markets where offline and hybrid travel agents still dominate — much of Latin America, Southern Europe, and parts of Asia — Bedsonline can be a meaningful source of FIT production that direct channels and consumer OTAs do not reach.
