Airbnb Listings Come to American Express Travel in Exclusive US Partnership
Sarah
Airbnb is plugging its inventory into one of the largest premium card ecosystems in the US, a distribution and loyalty move that matters for hosts targeting high-spending travelers.
On 22 October 2026, Airbnb and American Express announced an exclusive partnership that lets eligible US Card Members browse more than one million Airbnb homes on AmexTravel.com and in the Amex Travel App for the first time.
How booking works
Members enter trip details on the Homes tab and search Airbnb's listings. To book, they connect their American Express and Airbnb accounts and complete the reservation on Airbnb. Trips are visible in Amex Travel, but stay management (messaging hosts, adding co-travelers, changes, cancellations and support) remains on Airbnb.
Rewards
For prepaid bookings made through AmexTravel.com or the app:
- Consumer and Business Platinum cards earn 5X Membership Rewards points.
- Consumer Classic Green earns 3X points, including on direct Airbnb bookings.
- All other eligible cards earn 2X points.
Platinum perks for Airbnb Luxe
- The $600 Lodging Credit (previously the Hotel Credit) applies to prepaid Luxe bookings of two nights or more, paid as up to $300 in statement credits semi-annually.
- A new $250 Airbnb Experiences Credit unlocks after a qualifying Luxe booking, usable through the rest of the calendar year on eligible Experiences bought directly from Airbnb. Experiences redirected to third-party platforms are excluded.
Survey data
A survey commissioned by American Express (8–13 September 2026, 1,005 US adults who use a credit card for leisure travel) found more than 75 percent say travel purchases feel more satisfying when they earn rewards, and nearly four in five say rewards could prompt them to book a trip.
Howard Grosfield, Group President, US Consumer Services at American Express, said: "Travel is personal and where our Card Members choose to stay is personal." Juan David Borrero, Head of Partnerships at Airbnb, said the deal brings more choice and flexibility to Card Members.
Airbnb now counts more than 5.5 million hosts and has welcomed over 2.5 billion guest arrivals.
